About the Job:
Key Duties:
Assisting with General Aspects of Care:
- Be involved in the patient booking-in process as directed by the registered nurse
- Be aware of the need to greet patients, relatives & visitors to the unit and ascertain the purpose of their visit, including the CallMe initiative.
- Moving and handling of patients.
- Assisting patients and relatives to use wheelchairs
- Assist with patients’ mobilization, ensuring a safe environment and using appropriate techniques and aids when necessary.
- Assist the multi-professional team to prepare and support patients
- Dressing/undressing of patients when undertaking investigations
- Safe keeping of patients’ property/valuables
- Escort patients to and from the lavatory.
- Assist in the care of relatives and visitors.
- Chaperone professional staff where appropriate.
- Measuring blood pressure, body temperature, pulse rate, and respiration and completing the necessary documentation.
- Measuring patients’ height and weight as directed by a registered nurse and recording on the appropriate documentation.
- Undertaking investigations such as ECG, venipuncture, and MRSA swabs.
- Be adaptable and flexible to working in various areas of the department as required.
- Cleaning and tidying clinic areas.
- Replenishing of stock cupboards.
- Applicant must have evidence of venipuncture and ECG competence.
