About the Job:
- Act as a preceptor to newly registered staff and on a regular basis act as a mentor and assessor for students and learners on clinical placements.
- Take a lead responsibility for a specific function or area of knowledge/clinical skills within the team, e.g., specialty-focused link nurse, health promotion lead, student link nurse.
- Accept designated responsibilities from other team members and actively contribute to performance review and the appraisal and personal development planning (PDP) process within the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).
- Clinical governance, reduction of risk, audit and research
- Ensure that the delivery of care to one’s own patients and for all patients when in charge meets the standards determined by the Ward/Unit Manager and the Standards for Better Health.
- Adhere to trust policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines and ensure compliance of others.
- Promote and practice the highest standards of prevention and control of infection at all times.
- Continually monitor standards of nursing care and contribute to improvement of care through benchmarking, auditing, and research.
- Participate in and contribute to patient and public involvement activities. Promote patient dignity, equality, diversity, and rights.
- Ensure one’s own and all nursing practices are, at all times, in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and raise any concerns with the Ward/Unit Manager.
