About the Job:
- To undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care and treatment in line with practice policy and protocols.
- Provide specific evidence-based practical skills and have knowledge in the following areas:
- Chronic Disease Management of Asthma
- Chronic Disease Management of Diabetes
- In addition to managing chronic disease for our patients, you may also need to be able to take on some general practice nurse treatment room tasks, which could include the following:
- Perform wound care management and have experience in dressings
- Carry out ear examinations
- Undertake opportunistic screening when clinically required
- Perform phlebotomy and electrocardiography (ECGs)
- Administer adult and pediatric injections under individualized prescriptions or PGD,, ensuring safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs
- Provide an adult and childhood immunization service working to PGDs following appropriate training if required
- Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness or a willingness to undertake training
- Sexual health assessments and investigations, including emergency contraception
- Provide advice on healthy lifestyles, assist and support patients in changing behaviors, and refer appropriately
- Deliver travel healthcare, including vaccinations and advice, following appropriate training if required
- Undertake first aid and management of emergencies such as burns, hemorrhage, hypo/hyperglycemic emergencies, and asthma attacks
