Scholarship name: Carleton Entrance and Prestige Scholarships
Country: Canada
Awarding Body: Carleton University
Carleton University has one of the most generous scholarship and bursary programs in Canada. Last year, more than 15,700 scholarships and bursaries totaling over $31.9 million were awarded to undergraduate students.
Carleton has a variety of scholarship options for international students. These include entrance scholarships and prestige scholarships.
Carleton Entrance Scholarship: If you have been admitted to Carleton with an admission average of 80 percent or better and meet language requirements, you will automatically be considered for a renewable entrance scholarship. The admission average we use is calculated from the marks submitted by your high school in support of your application. Entrance scholarships are offered for fall entry only. You may be offered a renewable entrance scholarship provided you are entering Carleton for the first time and have no previous attendance at post secondary educational institutions. If eligible when admitted to Carleton, the scholarship value will be determined by your admissions average as calculated at the time of admission. Entrance scholarship offers are not assessed or reassessed on final high school grades.
Carleton Prestige Scholarship: Carleton highest award is the Prestige Scholarship. For all prestige scholarships, you must achieve an admission average of 90 percent or better. The selection committee will also assess the range of your community or secondary school extra-curricular activities. You will be considered for a prestige scholarship only if you are entering Carleton directly from high school or CEGEP. Students who have previously attended a post-secondary educational institution (either college or university) are not eligible for these awards.
Other Funding by Carleton University may Include Working on Campus, Work Study Program and Provincial Student Assistance Programs
Working on campus: A great way to offset the expense of university is to have a part-time job on campus. At Carleton, most campus units hire students throughout the academic year. Senior students can often find positions with departments as research assistants. A part-time job not only puts extra money in your pocket, but also provides valuable job experience at the same time. Carleton’s Career Services provides students with job search support and on-campus career counselling.
Work Study Program: The Work Study Program provides part-time, on-campus employment for those students demonstrating financial need.
Provincial Student Assistance Programs: If you are currently attending an Ontario high school, your guidance office can provide information on the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), which may help cover the cost of your post-secondary studies. If you do not live in Ontario, you may be eligible for out-of-province student assistance through your home province or territory.
