About the Job:
Clinical care
- Deliver safe and effective nursing care in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct.
- Assess patient needs and provide individualised care
- Monitor patient condition pre-operative and post-operative, recognising and responding to complications.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies and NMC guidelines.
- Provide wound care, pain management and post-surgical monitoring.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and electronic health records.
Patient safety and quality
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Identify risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Participate in clinical audits, governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safe handling of medicines and medical equipment.
Communication and patient support
- Provide clear information and reassurance to patients and families.
- Support patients throughout the surgical journey including admission, recovery and discharge.
- Liaise with consultants, anaesthetists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Professional practice
- Maintain active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Participate in continuing professional development (CPD).
- Contribute to mentoring junior staff, student nurses or healthcare assistants.
- Uphold professional standards and hospital policies.
Teamwork
- Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Support colleagues to maintain safe staffing levels and patient care standards.
- Participate in handovers, clinical meetings and training sessions.
