About the Job:
- To participate in team nursing and when appropriate, organise the patients care for that team in the team leaders absence.
- Report to medical staff on the condition of patients, receive medical instructions and implement as necessary.
- Ensure that every precaution is taken to safeguard patients property and valuables.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary approach to the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders.
- Participate in the training of other nursing staff, including basic and post basic learners in consultation with Sister/Charge Nurse wherever applicable.
- Control and co-ordinate activities of the ward team in the absence of Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Be aware of, and adhere to, all the Trust policies and procedures and standards of care.
- Maintain high standards of nursing care and review these standards with the Ward Manager.
- Participate as a named nurse for a small group of patients.
- Assist subordinate staff to understand their role in the unit team.
- Be aware of the economic use of ward equipment and stores.
- Ensure adequate security, administration, proper use and recording of dangerous drugs in accordance with hospital policy.
- Ensure up to date knowledge of new equipment being used.
- Furthering own professional development by ensuring that own clinical and professional knowledge is widened and enriched by attending study days and seminars as arranged through the in-service training officers.
- Ensure confidentiality at all times.
- The post holders attention is drawn to the Data Protection Act 1984.
- Ensure that the Control of Infection Guidelines are adhered to at all times.
- Attend annual training sessions on health and Safety, cardio-pulmonary, lifting and Handling, fire Safety
