About the Job:
At Royal Devon University Hospital Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to providing outstanding patient care and creating a supportive environment where staff can thrive. Our Medical Imaging Department delivers a comprehensive range of imaging services, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, DXA, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and interventional procedures across multiple sites.
We value teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and continuous improvement, and we actively encourage staff development and progression opportunities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient-focused nurse to join our friendly team of radiology nurses. The successful candidate will assist in diagnostic imaging procedures for patients across acute and non-acute pathways.
We welcome applications from all areas of nursing, although previous experience in interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization, or theater is desirable. Training will be given to successful applicants to ensure that an excellent knowledge of interventional and non-interventional procedures is gained. The key qualities of a radiology nurse are a passion to advocate for the patient and their safety, championing the trust values, and having the desire to work within a dynamic and inspiring team.
Our radiology nurses work as part of a multidisciplinary team of consultant radiologists, radiographers, nurses, and support staff to deliver safe, effective, and efficient care to all patients attending the radiology department. You will work within the interventional radiology theater during vascular procedures, facilitate other image-guided procedures (including CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy), and be responsible for the monitoring and recovery of patients. This provides a diverse and engaging environment to work in.
Within the interventional radiology theater, the radiology nurse provides scrub support for procedures and sedation to patients, working flexibly with radiographers to offer excellent patient care. This service may be required out of hours, and therefore participation in the interventional on-call rota is required after an initial period of training.
Our department strongly supports role development, and you will be encouraged to work in innovative ways to benefit the patient and the team.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day Typically between 8am and 6pm. Participation in the 24/7, 365-day on-call service is required.
Interview Date: To be confirmed
Benefits:
- We will work together to maintain a culture that develops and supports you and your team. This might include funding for a care certificate, a degree, or leadership qualifications. Or it might include days off to study, engage in CPD, or do rotational placements to help you hone your skills. Wherever you are heading in the NHS, we’ll help you get there.
- Looking after you is important to us. We strive to help our staff create a healthy work-life balance through flexible working schemes and our family-friendly policies. If you’re starting out in the NHS, you’ll start with 27 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays), rising to 33 days plus bank holidays.
- You’ll benefit from access to our own comprehensive occupational health services, including counselling, onsite wellbeing activities, and groups.
- Salary is not the only financial benefit. You’ll have access to an extensive range of staff discounts on shopping, fitness, and leisure options, and you can spread the cost of technology and home appliance purchases from major retailers.
You will also have access to other benefits, including:
- National discount services such as the Blue Light Card and Health Service Discounts.
- Salary sacrifice options, including our OFSTED-rated outstanding nursery onsite at Exeter
- Car lease schemes.
- The NHS pension scheme (one of the most generous and comprehensive in the UK).
- Cycle-to-work scheme
These are just a few of the benefits available if the role is something you are interested in; we’d love to hear from you.
