About the Job:
- Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus in paediatrics
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in evidence based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers.
- Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Boards policies.
- When competent, to be able to utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage and apply emergency plaster casts.
- To respond safely to an emergency and escalate any concerns.
- To support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order.
- Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues.To demonstrate effective communication skills.
- To act as an advocate when representing the patients.
- To have the ability to work as part of a large team, use delegation skills and prioritise care.
- Participate in health promotion.
- To support the nurse in charge with care and decision making.
- To ensure all statutory and mandatory training is in date.
- Be responsible for administrating medications to patients.
- To ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guideline.
