About the Job:
- The post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safe, effective, and individualized nursing care for patients with a range of acute medical, diabetes, and endocrine conditions. Experience of VRII/FRII is advantageous.
- You will be responsible for an allocated group of patients, prioritizing care according to clinical need and recognizing and escalating deterioration appropriately.
- You will administer medications safely, develop competence in diabetes and insulin management, and support patients to understand and participate in the management of their condition.
- Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to treatment planning, complex discharge planning, and safe and timely patient flow.
- You will communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues and maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation.
- As your experience develops, you will support the coordination of the ward, supervise and support nursing assistants and students, and contribute to the development of less experienced colleagues.
- You will maintain high standards of fundamental nursing care, infection prevention, safeguarding, pressure-area care, and falls prevention, while actively contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, audit and learning from incidents and patient feedback.
