About the Job:
We are looking for a healthcare assistant to work as part of the team, maintaining good working relationships with patients, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To deal with inquiries from patients, visitors, and staff, as directed by qualified staff, in accordance with department practices, ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- To ensure that attention is paid to patients’ individual needs.
- To ensure, under the direction of a qualified nurse, that patients’ personal hygiene needs are attended to and that all patients receive the desired standard of care as per the care plan.
- To assist in bathing patients and attending to hygiene needs, reporting any variation in skin condition to the qualified nurse.
- To carry out, under supervision, eye/mouth/skin and hair care treatment.
- Under the direction of a qualified nurse, obtain specimens, e.g., urine and blood.
- To sit with and support patients during minor treatments.
- Assist the nursing staff in patient positioning and exercises, ensuring the patient is moved and lifted in accordance with current moving and handling techniques.
- To have an understanding with regard to asepsis, undertake clinical observations, e.g., temperatures, pulse, respirations, peak flow measurements, and blood pressure recordings.
