PURPOSE OF THE POST
The Health Care Assistant will work under the indirect supervision of the treatment room and strictly by specific practice guidelines and protocols.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Basic Procedures Dressing and wound management. Scalds and burns management. Minor injuries e.g. sprains, bruising, cuts, grazes, etc. Leg ulcer care and management. Suture and clip removal. Venepuncture Testing pathology samples e.g. blood, urine. Ear syringing, blood pressure, and weight management. Aid/chaperone to GP during clinical procedures, e.g. minor operations, etc.
Specimen collection e.g. pregnancy tests, occult blood, feces for O&S, sputum, etc. Be responsible for putting labels on samples, form filling, and ensuring timely preparation of specimens for collection to the laboratory. General observations e.g. BP, pulse, and temperature. ECG Use and care of nebulizers.
Ensure the maintenance of stock levels in the Treatment Room relating to patient care. Be responsible for aspects of clinical waste and confidential waste management and cleaning of specific clinical areas, spills, etc Any other duties as specified by the Treatment Room lead as deemed appropriate and supported by appropriate training documentation Vaccinations & Injections.
