CLINICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to patients, promoting their dignity and equality at all times. To understand and perform a range of procedures and practices, including (but not only) vital signs, ECGS, urinalysis, blood glucose testing, taking and testing specimens, venepuncture, simple dressings, and removal of sutures/clips.
To recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations To undertake duties associated with maintaining a clean, safe, working environment To lead by example maintaining high standards of practice, and being clear about reporting mechanisms within the department. To maintain accurate, clear, and concise patient records.
To actively participate and contribute to departmental discussions and team meetings. To undertake any reasonable duty required for the smooth running of the department To maintain and follow strict infection prevention and control practices as per trust policies and procedures.
PLANNING AND ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
Ensure patient notes are ready for a clinic with previous investigation results available when and if required. To prepare consulting rooms, clinics, and trolleys, ensuring they are adequately equipped to maintain the smooth operation of the clinic. To assist in checking stock of supplies and organize requisitions for further supplies, to facilitate efficient and effective use of resources.
To work effectively as a member of the team, offering support to colleagues and requesting assistance as necessary. Organize own day-to-day work tasks and activities, considering the needs of the patients and the clinical staff engaged in their care. To maintain a safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents, and complaints according to the Trust policy.
