About the Job:
- To provide high-quality, safe and holistic midwifery care to women and their families whose pregnancies are complicated by diabetes.
- The post holder will have a high level of expert knowledge and skills and be provided with relevant specialist training where required, which they will use to manage, develop, and lead care for pregnant women and new mothers with additional needs.
- Provide direct client care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area.
- To be responsible for providing extra support and care to women whose pregnancies are complicated by diabetes in partnership with the named Diabetes Specialist Midwife (DSM), the Diabetes in Pregnancy multidisciplinary team, and external agencies.
- To work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs. They will provide a link between the maternity service and other services involved in diabetes care.
- Assist the Band 7 DSM to ensure that high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained for women with diabetes and to deputize for the Band 7 DSM as required.
