About the Job:
Management responsibilities:
- Enable the nursing team to work effectively and provide a high-quality service to patients and to work effectively with other agencies.
- Identify the workforce that is required to provide services to meet the needs of the patient population and negotiate with the practice management team for this workforce
- Lead and monitor the development and implementation of policies, standards and guidelines across the practice nursing team
- Analyse, interpret and report data on health and well-being, related needs and service use
- Be involved in the recruitment and selection of nursing staff to meet the health and well-being needs of the practice population
- Supervise and assess staff performance and development
- Develop a working environment that promotes healthy, safe and effective work outcomes
- Lead on the occupational health procedures for new starters at the practice
- Ensuring that the practice is CQC compliant with regards to nursing
- Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines, drugs and items with an expiry date
- Monitor and advice on the effective use of physical and financial resources by the nursing team
- Management of stock control and ordering Be the infection control lead for the practice
- To work with the PCN and Lead Nurses from other GP Surgeries in the PCN Clinical Leadership
- Identify and support practice development plans
- Allocate, co-ordinate, monitor and assess the work of the nursing team and individuals
- Offer and provide clinical supervision to other members of the practice nursing team and act as a clinical ”expert”
- Provide effective and dynamic leadership and management skills
- Lead a team towards common objectives, advise and support other team members including the identification of development need, taking appropriate action
- Provide clinical expertise to ensure development of clinical practice
- Act as a sign off mentor for clinicians in personal and professional development plans
- Support the student nurse programme, liaising with the students and the training centre, to ensure that the students experience and time in the practice is outstanding and meets their needs Initiate and lead practice developments to enhance the nursing contribution and quality of care
- Participate in effective clinical supervision processes both as a supervisee and supervisor, ensuring clinical supervision is in place for nursing staff
- Lead the team in quality assurance, development and clinical governance
- Lead the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice to improve the services offered by the practice nursing team
- Ensure all staff in the practice understand the cold chain
