About Job:
To maintain standards in line with National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS.
To provide general cleaning within all inpatient areas with inclusion of wards, communal areas, offices, departments, non-clinical areas
To follow National Colour Coding in line with infection prevention and control guidance.
To ensure safe use and storage of materials to meet health and safety regulations and adhere to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
To ensure safe use and storage of cleaning equipment e.g. vacuum cleaners, water extraction machines.
To adhere to safe working practices as outlined in Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) procedures.
To assist with the removal of bodily fluids and clean-up process as and when required in accordance with Infection Prevention guidelines
To work to a cleaning schedule, completing all allocated cleaning tasks e.g. damp dusting high- and low-level surfaces, vacuuming, mopping and carpet cleaning. Tasks to be performed in all areas of the ward. Workload to be prioritised, as necessary.
To complete curtain changing as per Infection Prevention guidance
To complete cleanliness audit actions in a timely manner, ensure audits are signed and filed in a logical order.
To maintain appropriate stock levels of cleaning materials.
To support patients/service users to complete personal laundry.
Monitor linen stock and order, as necessary. To transport bagged used linen to designated compound.
To maintain water quality by flushing infrequently used outlets e.g. taps, showers and toilets and ensure appropriate documentation is completed.
To remove general, recycled, and clinical waste and dispose of in the appropriate compound.
To report building / equipment maintenance and repairs to the Facilities Service Desk or line manager.
To carry a personal alarm in designated areas.
To complete time sheet where necessary.
To raise matters of noncompliance with the line manager.
To complete mandatory training as required.
